About Ittara
Ittara began with a practical frustration.
Many bags looked good but didn’t work well — they were either made from animal leather that has environmental and ethical concerns or ‘vegan’ leather made from PU or PVC. Essentially, they felt disposable because of poor quality of materials and craftsmanship.
We wanted to make bags that had a high level of craftsmanship, made from responsible materials, are functional, restrained, and thoughtfully designed — without unnecessary additions.
Ittara is an independent brand focused on making beautiful and well-made bags with thoughtful interiors.
Design Philosophy
We start with use.
Every bag is designed around how it will be carried, opened, filled, and worn over time. Layouts, proportions, and structure are tested and adjusted until they make sense in daily life.
The design language is intentionally minimal. We avoid decoration that doesn’t serve a purpose and shapes that feel tied to short-term trends.
What We Make
Our collections focus on a small number of core styles.
Each design is intended to work across contexts — work, travel, and everyday use — without needing constant replacement or rotation. We prefer refining existing designs over releasing new ones frequently.
The Ittara Emblem
Our logo is created using Bidri, a traditional metal inlay craft from India.
Bidri work is known for its deep black surface and fine silver inlay, achieved through a labor-intensive, manual process. We chose Bidri for the Ittara mark because it reflects our values of restraint, permanence, and quiet detail.
The logo is not decorative; it’s a small but deliberate reference to craft, process, and longevity.
